Implementing the Food Safety Modernization Act: The 9-Month Update
Nine months into implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010 (FSMA) and businesses, foreign and domestic, are beginning to feel the effects. FDA’s rolling implementation of the new law has, to date, put into effect regulations and industry guidances regarding administrative detentions, prior notice, New Dietary Ingredients (NDIs) and smuggled foods. Starting this October, FDA will begin charging food facilities fees for re-inspections, import re-examinations, review of petitions related to Import Alerts and recall activities performed by FDA.

Are your prepared to comply?!

Please join us for a timely and informative webinar which will analyze the new requirements imposed by the FSMA to date and discuss how your company can navigate this new regulatory landscape to ensure compliance even as more provisions continue to be implemented. The following are among the topics that will be addressed:
  • Hazard analysis, evaluation of potential contamination;
  • Written safety plans;
  • Verification of controls & certification of imports;
  • New fees imposed on food facilities
  • FDA's ability to suspend or revoke registration;
  • Safety standards for certain food categories; and
  • FDA penalties and mandatory recalls, and imposition of criminal and civil penalties.
This webinar will be presented by Edgar Asebey-Birkholm, Esq., Edward Steiner and James O'Reilly, Esq.
