2010 - Retailers Get Serious About Social Marketing

How much does a fanbase in Facebook or other Social Media outlet relate to sales and brand loyalty?  It would be great to learn from Walgreens how they place an ROI on its 445,000 fans in Facebook.


40% of Retailer CFO's surveyed are moving from traditional brand-based advertising towards more targeted promotions to existing customers shares PricewaterhouseCoopers in Canada.  Social Media is an excellent tool to direct messages to customers or fans.


You can bet with the serious dollars moving towards this advertising channel and medium there will be more measurement and understanding of this channel.  Also, manufacturers need to consider how their fanbase might provide support to their retailer customers.
